The shipping company's net profit increased 29 times in the first half of the year! Order 8 more container ships and 10,000 containers

It is reported that Eva Marine recently announced the results of the first half of 2021, net profit increased 29 times compared to the same period last year, and announced the purchase of 10,000 containers and the acquisition of eight container ships to expand the capacity.


Persistent shortages of containers and capacity have pushed up freight rates and pushed shipping companies' revenues to unprecedented levels. In the first half of this year, Eva Sea's operating revenues doubled to $6.8bn and its net profits rose 29-fold to $3.2bn.


Eric Hsieh, president of Evergreen Group, said the company will buy 10,000 containers from Oriental International for $64.65 million. It is Eva's second container purchase from the CoSCO unit in a year, following a $141.7m order for 28,000 containers from the company in March.


In addition, 6,000 new coolers were ordered from China's Guangdong Fuwa Equipment Manufacturing Company in July.

Since March 2020, Eva and its container leasing and warehousing subsidiary, Eva International Storage and Transportation, have placed orders for at least 90,000 containers.


Eva also announced the acquisition of eight container ships in a deal valued at about $94.1 million. The liner giant will add seven 1,600-teU container ships and one 7,000TEU container ship respectively through its two subsidiaries, Evergreen Hong Kong and Evergreen Asia.


Evergreen Hong Kong has acquired seven 1,600teU container ships from Gaining Enterprise for us $67.1 million, while Evergreen Asia has acquired a 7,000TEU container ship for US $27 million. Delivery details were not disclosed.


Eva Marine is currently the seventh largest liner company in the world, with a fleet of 203 vessels, including 116 owned vessels. According to VesselsValue, the company has ordered 35 new ships.
